INDIE HOPS VARIETIES

PUBLIC VARIETIES

Meticulously brewed and beautifully packaged, Pueblo Vida offers up thirst-quenching refreshment for outdoor adventurers

Since first trailing the hop, “we’ve gone all in on Lórien,” states Swanson. “We use Lórien in Wildcat Sonoran-Style Cerveza Amber Lager, which is the officially licensed craft beer for The University of Arizona. We also use Lórien in our Hef Wheat AleClara Vida Light Lager, and every other lager released in the last four years. Lórien is a less spicy lager variety. It can come off slightly fruity but not in an IPA way.  It has a gentle fruit character and a hint of lime sweetness that has really made our lager game super unique.”

Light drinking lagers are an important menu item for the brewery, which is housed in a historic building in downtown Tucson, Arizona. The taproom features original red brick walls, exposed old-growth Mt. Lemmon pine, and hardwood fir floors. It’s the kind of place that welcomes and beckons one to linger a little longer over another pint with friends.

Like many brewers, Swanson started brewing because he loved drinking the finished product. “I originally started brewing by helping out at a local brewery where I liked to drink on the weekends,” recalls Swanson. “The brewer was a native German and made some incredible German styles. What I learned there continues to inspire me today.” For Swanson, who now has more than eighteen years of commercial brewing experience, “the passion to improve each and every day” is at the heart and soul of craft beer. “Whether it be in our QA/QC or seeking out a super unique hop or grain to make the best beer we can from all of the incredible ingredients that are out there.”

Pueblo Vida focuses that drive to continuously do better on the sustainability front as well. Surrounded by breathtaking natural wonder, Pueblo Vida’s beautifully designed cans remind folks that their beers are #bestenjoyedoutdoors. The brewery added water meters to their hoses, and even this small changes really adds up — thus far this thoughtful approach has led to a 20% reduction in water usage. They also make a point of sourcing Salmon-Safe hops from Indie Hops and have transitioned to utilizing barley that is grown using regenerative farming practices (no-till, cover crops, rotational grazing, and etc.).

At Pueblo Vida, you’ll find beer brewed with passion that’s served up in an inviting atmosphere from folks that have an intentional focus on environmental stewardship and building community. University of Arizona alums and co-founders Linette Antillon and Kyle Jefferson started Pueblo Vida “to create a place in the community where you can relax over a pint of beer with friends. The community surrounding us has been better than we ever expected!” We’ll raise a pint to that.. after all, that’s what craft beer is all about, right?!
